Dallens is situated within one of the most beautiful parts of the west coast in the area of Appin which lies between Loch Creran and Loch Linnhe, almost equidistant between Oban and Fort William. Offshore lies the island of Lismore where cycling trips can be made.
How do we get there?
Getting to Dallens is easy being 2 hours from Glasgow and also there is a choice so you can go one way and come back another to see more of the country around Dallens. Coming from the south, you need to get to Tyndrum either via Callendar and Lochearnhead or via Tarbert, Loch Lomond and then Crianlarich. Once at Tyndrum you can choose one of two routes:
Via Glen Coe - at Tyndrum follow the road to Fort William which will take you over Rannoch Moor and through Glen Coe. Once through Glen Coe and before the Ballachulish Bridge follow the signs for Oban. This takes you south through Kentallen and Duror. Around 20 minutes from the turn off to Oban you will find yourself at the Stalker View visitor centre - just past there at the bottom of the hill on the main road there is a right turn before a sharp left corner - Dallens is at the end of that track, by the waters edge.
Via Connel - at Tyndrum follow the signs for Oban which means a left turn off the main road. Keep on the Oban road going past Loch Awe and through Taynuilt until you reach Connel. Here, follow the signs for Fort William which will take you over the Connel Bridge. 20 minutes or so up this road you will pass the turn off for Port Appin - keep on the main road another mile and after you enter the 40mph area, there is a sharp right turn up a hill - at that turn you will see the lane off to Dallens going off to the left hand side of the road.
Which ever route you choose you will find that Dallens is around 2 hours from Glasgow and around the same from Stirling. If you are bringing a boat or trailer we would suggest taking the Oban route to avoid the sharper turn into the lane.
